Title: Effects of preparation methods on the catalytic performance of Ni-Mg-ZrO2 catalysts in autothermal reforming of methane to syngas

Abstract: Ni-Mg-ZrO2 catalyst has been prepared by a co-precipitation method. For comparison, a conventional impregnation method was employed to prepare Ni/Mg-ZrO2 catalyst. Compared with Ni/Mg-ZrO2 catalyst, it was found that Ni-Mg-ZrO2 catalyst showed better activity and stability at 800oC for autothermal reforming of methane to syngas. The higher activity and stability of the catalyst is attributed to the high thermal stability and basic properties of the catalyst, and the strong metal-support interaction.
